A Chinese ivory casket from the Canton region, the lid bearing a magnificent deeply carved panel, the sides each with a vignette and the whole standing on four bat-shaped legs. The quality of the carving especially that of the top panel is above average; it shows a scene of figures at leisure in pavilions, an equestrian rider and several swordsmen. An Indian silver ewer of tapering shape with a lobed section to base and the handle in the form of a mythical double-headed snake. A Chinese hardstone-set hand mirror, its back bearing a round carved plaque of pale beige with shots of brown colour , the handle and the base fitted similarly.It is framed by a silver plated surround which is inset with four turquoise stones. Size: 8 1/2 inches (21.5cm) 4 inches (10cm ) diameter of the mirror. age: C. 1900. condition: good, the stones undamaged, slight element of filigree missing.
