Moghol gold panels from a horse trapping 13 C.
Moghol gold panels originally attached to horse trappings in Central Asia, 13 century, this set comes in different shapes: 10 with a winged motif, three as a four-petalled flower, two as half moon, one in shield shape and two small buds ; all embellished with repousse work. Having been underground for centuries, there is still soil adhesion to all of them, but where it is cleaner, the gold glints . Of course, hey can be professionally cleaned .Some still have their fixings( nails)where they were attached to probably a leather trapping on a horse belonging to an important leader/ warrior. The largest measure 1 inch ( 2.5cm ) in diameter.
