Continental silver fish serving set, "fiddle and thread" pattern, Germany, Ca. 1900. Both knife and fork are pierced and etched, with a "cut-out" of a fish visible in the "blade" of the knife. A "shell" appears on the end of the handle of each, both on the back and front sides.The shell "motif" is continued above the blade of the knife and "bowl" of the fork on the back of each piece. Magnificent, large, heavy gauge, sterling silver, cedar-lined (leather underside),humidor. Has two hinged compartments (one for cigars; the other probably for cigarettes, etc.)and an "omega" handle.
