The antique general store counter scale was made in Rutland, Vt and is a Howe Scale 3 #5112. It has an oval brass "bucket" that measures 13 3/8 inches by 7 5/8 inches. The scale is 9 1/2 inches long and 8 inches tall including the brass bucket.

The cast iron flat or sad iron has a hatchmarked handle and is a Star 7 iron. It is 4 3/4 inches tall, 6 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide at the back. It dates from the early 1900s.

The cast iron No 7 flat or sad iron dates from the early 1900s. It is 5 inches tall, 6 inches long and 3 3/4 inches wide at the back. It has a C in a shield on it with the number 7.

The Columbia Family Scale is a 24 pound scale by ounces. It is marked "King Hardware Co Pat Sept 17 '06". There is a decorative edging around the face of the scale which is intact but faded with accumulated dirt! The scale has its original patina and rust - no cleaning - but it works well. These scales were used in country stores.

The silver plated server is 10 1/4 inches long and the blade is 5 inches by 2 inches. The flat blade is engraved with a calla lily and leaves and one side is curved up so that when food is served it does not fall off the server. Originally intended to serve fish, this server can be used for any number of dishes. The fish server dates from the early 1900s and is marked R. B. White Metal.

The antique punch ladle is 12 3/4 inches long and the bowl is 4 inches by 3 3/8 inches. The punch ladle is stamped with the mark of William Wheatcroft Harrison who produced silver plated items in Sheffield, England from 1857 to 1918. This ladle dates from pre-1897 when the maker's mark changed. The punch ladle is in very good condition and is ideal for weddings and parties.

The antique wooden wood plane is 6 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall plus another 1 1/2 inches for the plane handle. It has its blade and has been well used judging from the wear on the hand hold. It dates from the late 1800s/ early 1900s.

The antique cigar press hails from Virginia and dates from the early 1900s. The wooden press is 22 inches long by 5 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches thick. There are two halves that come apart with the slots for the cigars in the middle. Used in the hand manufacturing of cigars, this press shaped the cigars into the desired shape once they were rolled and cut. (See also the antique cigar cutter that I have listed.)

The silver plate fruit spoons were manufactured by Holmes & Edwards (International) in the Assyrian/Greek pattern in 1889. The spoons are 5 3/4 inches long with a shaped and pointed bowl which makes removing orange or grapefruit segments easy. In the Victorian tradition, there had to be an implement for all occasions and uses and these are a beautiful example.

The set of 6 soup spoons was produced by Community Silver in the St Regis pattern in 1911. The round bowled soup spoons are 7 inches long and the bowl is 1 7/8 inches across. The pattern is very simple with a decorative edge around the handle and a small decoration at the top of the handle. There is a monogram at the top of the handle - an "E" or an "F", but it could be open to interpretation!
