This is a truly unique item dating from the period 1890 to 1910. The Victorian thimble case and thimble inside are hand-carved vegetable ivory which could be either a Corozo or palm nut. The case is 2 1/2 inches long and 1 5/16 inches across. The thimble is 1 inch tall and 3/4 inch in diameter. There are some small chips on the ring of the thimble case where it screws onto the bottom. There is a natural crack which was part of the original nut. This is a small 2-piece carving set of knife and fork in the "Violet" pattern. The handles are sterling and the blade and tines are steel. There is slight discoloration on the knife blade. "Violet" was manufactured by R. Wallace & Sons in 1904. The knife measures 9 7/8 inches and the fork 8 3/4 inches. The set is not monogrammed.
