Sterling Silver Victorian Calling Card Case

This is a beautiful sterling silver Victorian calling card case in perfect condition. The case measures 3 3/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches and is heavily engraved both front and back. There is a place for a monogram on the front. The calling card case is hallmarked: Queen Victoria' head/ Lion/ Anchor/ T. This hallmark translates to say that the case was made in Birmingham, England in 1868 from sterling of .925 quality and that tax was paid to Queen Victoria. (The duty mark was abolished in 1890.) The calling card case is an exquisite work of art from its time and a wonderful item to look at, hold or even use.
