Eventually this train connected Singapore, Malaya (Malaysia) through Siam and to the River Kwai ,or more correctly Khwae Noi, and the Burmese Border beginning during the time of British colonization in South East Asia and India. . This Qing Dynasty Opium Pipe, including the damper holder and mouthpiece, is fashioned from a solid piece of ivory. The design at the top of the stoneware damper is incised with a design in silver. The design at bottom of holder is of a peony which leads me to believe the pipe was made for a woman. Outstanding craftsmanship. Dimensions: Length—13 3/4 inches
