A very fine and intricately carved mid 19th century elmwood cabinet circa 1860. It is known as an " eight immortals" cabinet. The cabinet features detail carved images of both the eight immortals of Chinese history along with the symbols for each carved in a panel of the cabinet. The panels at the sides and front are removable. Really beautiful wood. The original finish is a deep golden brown. Dimensions: 55 1/4 X 23 34 X 77 3/8 inches high

This is a very early, traditional cabinet used for storing objects related to Buddhist ceremonies.Red lacquer over elmwood. Itís origin is Shanxi province. This style can be seen depicted in paintings, pottery and funerary objects dating back to the 16th century. Qianlong Period, Qing Dynasty circa late 17th-early 18th century. Original hardware and construction consistent of this period. Heavy remnants of the original lacquer. Excellent condition.
