Circa late 19th/early 20th century Black lacquer over elmwood
This Chinese apothecary chest has a total of 26 drawers. Twenty-four of these are divided into 4 separate compartments while the two at bottom are each divided into 2 compartments.

Great natural wear and patina. Top shows wear through heavy multiple layers of lacquer ( pls see photos of top). Can easily tell that all edges of the apron/skirt have been hand hewn. The drawer bottoms have been replaced.
