This is a very old piece as can be seen from the extreme weathering of the hardwood. Fom the Yoma Mountains, Irrawaddy River Delta Region (aka Rakine Yoma,Arakin Yoma), Shaun State, Burma. This area, also known as the Kaching Region, is on the Burmese/China Border and is considered autonomous. These are hung from the Temple Ceiling. Salvaged from Buddhist temple in Mandalay. Circa 1850 Red and yellow/orpiment lacquer over teak.
