This Pipe is of the cylindrical type and is fashioned from a solid piece of ivory. The polychrome art work is exceptional very detailed and incised into the ivory using a paint that includes metal in its base. The overall theme is longevity. This opium pipe is of the paneled form and made of bone. The scrimshaw is very detail. The theme is a garden and pagoda scene with a mounted scholar. Also includes sparrows and butterflies. The metalwork is of silvered copper.
At the bottom underside is the yin/yang symbol. The there are two signature chops on the front two panels. An opium needle is attached to the body of the pipe with chain.

The stem and saddle are fashioned from one piece of bamboo. The saddle is the root that was growing at the end. It is sheathed in a brass cuff. There is a leather collar at the end of the stem. The stem shows great patina. The mouthpiece is jade. The octagon shaped stoneware damper has stamps at 6 sides. One smell of the damper or puff on the pipe tells it was well used.

This opium pipe is of the cylindrical form and made of rosewood. The mother of perl inlay is detailed and in tact, no missing pieces. The motif includes sparrows, butterflies, ducks, lotus blossoms and cherry blossoms. The detailed metalwork is of silvered copper and features a flower basket design. Complete with opium needle and chain attached to body of pipe.
