A Chinese Qing Dynasty are and calligraphy table. Circa 1880 Finished completely in the round being exact design and finish on both sides. The frame is elmwood. The carved inserts are black wood. This group consist of :, -- an outstanding finial base of heavy pierced metal. The pierced metal is in the form of two interlocking 5-clawed dragons which move freely. The finial base is heavily incised with gold designs. The small jewel at button is either a uncut, polished ruby stone or a richly colored uncut, polished agate stone. It is not glass. The Gya-Ling as known in Tibetan Language is one the traditional ritual instrument made from a hardwood bore. This example is made of black rosewood. It is a type of flute instrument derived from Indian tradition and named Gya-Ling with reference to its source. It has the typical bell-shaped trumpet end, and a reed mouthpiece .
