Beautiful humidor of carved burled walnut and ivory, C. 1920. Figure is of a French peasant with a detailed carved face and clasped hands of ivory. The burled walnut body is carved in peasant style clothes, complete with neckerchief and wooden shoes.
Very expressive features. The top lifts off just below the arms to allow the figure to hold small cigars, cigarettes, pipe tobacco, or to be used as a small storage vessel. Patina on the wood is wonderful, and the ivory has a rich deep color. ...click for details
