A very striking native American beaded purse, possibly Iroquois. The great feature of the piece is that it is heavily beaded on both sides. The purse is trimmed with red and brown cotton and beaded on black velvet. On one side there is a small pocket with a red cotton trim. The top flaps are lined with a brown polished cotton, and the handle is of a black braided cotton. Elaborately done, with deep rich colors. Condition: Couple of tiny beads missing, and there is some wear on the red border. Otherwise, very good. Size: 6 X 5 3/4 inches. 10 1/2 inches to top of the braided handle. |
