This is a truly magnificent large Georgian memorial mourning brooch. The painted scene shows a woman in a Grecian style dress in front of a memorial stone entitled “ Souvenir”, and framed at the top and side by a weeping willow. There is an elaborate reverse painted edge in black and gold to the glass. The reverse side of the piece has a lovely hair decoration as shown in the picture, and the frame is a rich gold colored metal. Gorgeous piece. Condition: Fine. There is a bit of dust under glass and three tiny white paint marks in tree. Size: Height to top of bale – 3 1/8 inches. Width- 2 ¼ inches. |
