This is a very striking carved ivory piece, showing a Shishi crouched on top of a rectangular block.
The base of the block has oriental script, and the piece is beautifully carved with an expressive mouth and delineated claws. Lovely patina to the ivory, and a wonderful feel. Possibly 18th century, but certainly very old. Condition: Letters on the base are worn and difficult to read. Age lines as seen in the photos. Size: 2 ½ X 1 5/8 X 5/8 inch. |
