These are a lovely pair of vintage Japanese Shibyama whist counters. Rich colored rosewood with gold lacquer painted flowers and birds, provide the back drop for eight small ivory levers which are inlaid with various hardstones and shells. Designs are of various bugs, beetles, and a butterfly. Each of the ivory tabs lifts up to count score. Exquisite workmanship.
Condition:Very nice. One inlaid piece is missing on one of the counters, but could be replaced. Size: 3- 5/8 x 1- 7/8 x 3/8 inch. |
