A silver plated brooch of a powerful hunting dog and rats is a most uncommon motif for an antique brooch. However, this unusual high relief piece shows a hunting dog stalking several rats in a straw basket that is standing in a field with surrounding grass and a sheaf of wheat. Image could possibly be from a fairy tale, or fable. Material is likely copper with a silver plate finish. Reverse side seems to be brass with a C clasp and pin , much like a Shakudo piece. Condition: Highlights of copper showing through, but this may have been intentional. Size: 2 1/4 inches X 1 1/4 inches. |
