Unusual antique vesta matchsafe made from a 1797 Georgian coin. One side has the profile of George lll, and the othe,r the figure of Brittania 1797. The striker is on the bottom of the piece, and the top has a hinged section with a small raised section to enable it to be opened. There is a ring on the top of the case to attach to a watch, or other type of chain. Condition: Very good for the age. Original color and appearance. Has not been polished. Size: 1 5/8 inches in diameter. |
