A very lovely hand painted Victorian cheroot case, painted on both sides with different scenes. This is the last of these wonderful cases I have owned. On one side is an image of a saddled horse and dog resting as their owner sits beside a tavern with three friends. The other side shows three people on a balcony, looking out to sea at a sailboat in the moonlight. The sides of the case are made of leather with an inside paper case to hold cheroots, or thin cigars. Very detailed paintings in deep rich colors. Quite an unusual case with hand painted scenes on both sides. Condition: Bit of splitting on one side of leather, but otherwise minor age wear. Colors beautiful. Size: 5 1/2 X 2 3/4 inches. |
