“The Spratling of Peru” …
Florentine-born, Graziella Laffi lived and worked in Peru during the 1950’s, producing singular and stunning silver pieces in both modern and pre-Columbian forms. Most aficionados believe that her creations rival the masterworks that came out of Mexico. She is one of today’s hottest collectibles in the field. This extraordinary cufflinks and tie bar set by Laffi is both a rare and wonderful find! The sterling silver grouping is hand hammered and composed of deeply concave, elliptical elements. Small Inca male figurals, with tall headdresses and short, squat bodies, are surmounted to the elements, each fabulously hand tooled and stylized to appear quite primitive and tribal. Impressive in size, design, execution, and heft, this is a superb, eminently wearable accessories set, as well as a singular Graziella Laffi collectible. Hallmarks: Marked on each piece—PERU, G. LAFFI, 925. Dimensions: Tie Bar—2” x 1-1/4”. Cufflinks—1-3/8” x 1” approximately. Weight: Tie Bar weighs 17.2 grams. Each cufflink approximately weighs 15.8 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. |
