Magnificent Mexican Art Nouveau Silver Fish Bracelet
ˇEs espectacular! … This breathtaking, handwrought showpiece most likely hails from the 1930’s or ’40s—the nascent years of Mexico’s silver renaissance. Imposing in both design and definition, it is composed of four large, deeply convex, square panels interconnected by pin hinges. The panels display an Art Nouveau vignette, which consists of a highly dimensional leaping fish that has been executed in extraordinary openwork, so that it appears to be surmounted to the panel frames. Each panel is further embellished with ornate foliate accents applied to each corner. The bracelet’s intricate detail, created through meticulous cutwork, intricate incising, and heavy oxidizing, creates a masterwork of exceptional depth and drama. A remarkable piece of wearable art, this is an outstanding addition to any serious pre-Eagle Mexican silver collection.

HALLMARKS: SILVER, MEXICO. The piece tests positive for high silver content, .925 or better. DIMENSIONS: 6-3/4” x 1-5/8”. WEIGHT: 90 grams. CONDITION: Excellent to superior vintage condition, definitely collector quality. The bracelet closes with a rare bayonet-style clasp.
