Majestic ~ Magnificent ~ Massive …
Taking inspiration from signature design #70 by Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti {Victoria}, this opulent and singularly sumptuous bracelet is a prestigious showpiece for any advanced collector of pre-Eagle Mexican jewelry. Handwrought by a decidedly maestro-worthy artisan, the sterling silver piece is composed of five slightly convex panels interconnected by pin hinges. The panels, which are hollow, are highly domed, and graduate in form and size. Each panel has been meticulously etched with a sublimely graceful, Art Deco pattern comprised of curvilinear lines and circlets—all oxidized to accentuate the detail and definition of the overall motif. As a final, exquisite flourish, horizontal rows of four surmounted, silver beads embellish the center of the panels, framed by an incised, rectangular border. With its radiantly reflective silver work and remarkable vintage condition, this bracelet is a significant example of Mexican artistry from the early years of the silver renaissance. HALLMARKS: HECHO EN MEXICO; 925. DIMENSIONS: 7” in length, not including clasp. The bracelet measures 2-3/16” at its widest point and tapers to 1/2” at its narrowest. WEIGHT: A very impressive 58.5 grams. CONDITION: Dating to the 1930’s or ’40s, it is in excellent to superior vintage condition, including a push button v-spring and box clasp. There are a few impressions in the silver along the flat ends of the panels, which appear to be tool marks made during production. They do not affect at all the appearance of the bracelet and are solely mentioned for the purpose of full disclosure. |
