GORGEOUS!!! This Coro Duette is a truly wonderful piece of art! The two Birds of Paradise form a large brooch together, or come apart to become two separate dress or fur clips. This style is generically known as a double-clip brooch. The Coro Duette mechanism and design was introduced in 1931 and the patent was issued in 1939. The Coro Design Director at the time was Adolph Katz. The pieces are fully marked, as shown.
The brooch measures about 3 1/2 inches and 2 inches wide (when together). The condition is magnificent. All the crystal rhinestones are present and bright. Moreover, the enamel painting is nearly 100% intact – less than 5% loss. The photos show this piece off quite well. |
