Lovely miniature hand painted portrait of a lady. Appears to be oil on ivory (or ivorine) and is signed (although the signature is not legible to me). The lady has beautiful blue eyes and curly brown hair. She is holding a pink rose.
The oval frame, which has a ring hanger on the back, is gold gilt brass. There is a blue and silver label on the back with a logo and C. Frederick Faude. This is probably French or Italian from the early 1900s and was sold as a gallery piece for tourists. The image measures about 2 5/8 inches by 3 3/8 inches; the frame is about 3 3/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches. Excellent condition. |
