| Estate Ring. This ring has a Lava or Intaglio Cameo set in a bezel setting. What a Rare find in good condition. The top of the ring measures approximately 13.50 mm or a half inch long by 10 mm at the widest part. The stone is a Dark green with fleck of red. The cameo has a small flaw on the one side and is shown clearly in the photo. My Jeweler did not want to even try to tamper with the stone. I should have rotated the photo for your viewing of the hallmark. The side of the ring have engraved work. The ring was just polished the Gold only and is a size 7. This could be worn by a Gentleman or a women. The Cameo I belive is either a blood stone or carved from Lave stone.The agate is carved with a Roman figure. It was probably worn in the 1870s and was used to create a wax seal on correspondance, a gummed envelopes had not been created yet. It would have been convenient for the owner to use as it was worn on the hand. My Jeweler only deals in New Jewelry and could not help me. | ||
