| ARTIST: Walter Franklin Lansil (1846-1925) TITLE: Santa Marie Del Saluta at Sundown SIZE: 22 x 29 MEDIUM: Oil on Canvas REMARKS: Studied at the Academie Julian in Paris in 1880. Member of the Boston Art Club in 1877 with exhibitions from 1874 until 1909. Also exhibited at the PAFA and the National Academy of Design. (1878-1892). Lansil s broadly applied brushstrokes and fascination with capturing the effects of light on water are very similar to Feliz Ziem, a contemporary French artist who also spent a lot of time in Venice. Listed in Who was Who in American Art, Fieldings and Benezit. | ||
