ENGLISH KEY WIND CHRONOMETER MAKER TO THE ADMIRALTY JOHN FORREST LONDON 50mm C: 1885. Rare English gold filled original case. 99% of English key wind cases were silver. A beautiful English key wind watch in superb original condition. Key wind and key set. Commonly refered to as a “Half Hunter” because the back lid opens with a lift spring upon depressing the crown button. Just serviced, clean, running and accurate.

Dial: White porcelain signed: “CHRONOMETER MAKER TO THE ADMIRALTY/ JOHN FORREST/ LONDON”. Hairline at 5 edge. Scarce original porcelain dial. Movement: Gilt, 15 jewels, ¾ plate gilt, key wind and key set. Original to the case. Case: Yellow gold Plate or “Filled” signed on the inside back: “GOLD FILLED/ MADE IN ENGLAND”.
