**OMEGA Ranchero 30mm Cal. 288 17j Ref. 2990-1 C: 1960. Extremely rare; presented in the original Omega green presentation display box. The Ranchero was produced only a short period of time for the South American market in 1958 ending in 1960. This model was intended for the lucrative and wealthy South American customers. However, the Omega marketing team at Omega did not consider that the term or word “Ranchero” translated to “Farmer” in Spanish. This did not go over well with wealthy customers, who considered this a "Farmers" watch, and would not wear it! A failed marketing effort but a very interesting and beautiful watch. This variation is gold plate with a steel back98% of the Rancheros produced were 18k gold or steel. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
DIAL: All original sub. Seconds silver with applied 18k gold arrowhead and Arabic figures. Not a perfect dial, but in excellent original condition. Rare Ranchero original dial. MOVEMENT: ¾ plate rose, pendent set, all original 17 jewels with red ruby pressed in jewel settings, Caliber “288”, #17,412,780. Excellent condition and original to this case. CASE: Snap back steel back marked “2990-1” on inside back with all the registered trademark identification. Please view the image provided of this back markings. Gold plated surfaces.
