ROLEX 18k GOLD "BUBBLE BACK" OYSTER PERPETUAL CHRONOMETRE ORIGINAL ROSE DIAL Ref. 2940 Circa: 1938. The Rolex Reference No. 2940 was produced in Stainless Steel, gold filled, 9k, 14k, and 18k gold (See page 1050 in current price guide). Internationally famous as the so called: "Bubble Back". This example is extremely desirable because of the prestine original overall condition (especially this dial!). Original Roman and Teardrop figured copper Rolex dial adds value and desirability. The crown is also original and clearly marked: "ROLEX OYSTER". This extremely desirable Rolex comes with a genuine black lizard stiched and padded (original specifications) with a vintage yellow Logo Rolex buckle. Clean, running and accurate. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.

DIAL: Original copper colored Rolex dial with the original Radium filled figures and hands. Original black sweep seconds. The aging is apparent and consistant throughout the surface. Note: Both the minute and hour hand are original and have the radium material as the Rolex Factory applied in 1938 (these hands have not been restored). Rare Rolex original dial.

MOVEMENT: Ref. "2940". 26 Jewels, signed: ROLEX AUTO ROTOR CHRONOMETER"/ Swiss Made/ Patented", "SUPER -BALANCE". "Trigger Screw/ Vis Triette/ PATENTED". Nickel plates and Auto Rotor; original to the movement, dial and case. Excellent conditon throughout, free of distraction. Clean, running.

CASE: 18k Yellow Gold. Marked inside back: "18k/ .750", "ROLEX OYSTER". Original marked crown with logo. Original plain polished bezel with polished original sides and satin finished surfaces on lug tops. The threads on the screw off back appear as not to have been violated and are like new/old stock condition. At 12 o'clock case edge is marked: "REGISTER DESIGN/ 2940". At 6 o'clock case edge is marked: "129407".
