Black lacquer with undertones of umber is the background for the Chinese scholar and crane as they stroll on the pathway. The vase well holds a bamboo insert for the floral arrangement. There are nicks along an edge and one side of the vase and a corner has loss of lacquer.

This vessel was used to pour warm sake. The katakuchi's underside is blackened from being placed on coals. The spout has some roughness and there is a crack on one side - please see photos. Dates circa 1900's.

Offered for sale is this pair bronze hibachi with high relief scenes and elephant handles. On one side is Chokwaro, a mountain genie or Sennin who possessed a magic gourd. Upon command, a horse would emerge from the gourd on which he could ride away. The pair hibachi have not been polished but left as they were when last used. There is oxidation on the insides and small amount on the bodys' exteriors. There is some wear and loss of patina from use. Date circa 1900's. This wood oka-mochi was used to deliver food. There are two rectangular boxes for food storage with a removable black lacquered shelf in the lower unit. The handle and cross bars are lacquered as well as the box's interiors. There is minor wood loss on the handle and other areas of the carrying box.

The advertising on this dye box informs the purchaser that the hair dye will make the hair black, that it will cover grey or brownish hair. On the lid's underside, encouragement is given once the box is empty, to reuse as a receptacle for bills. A slot in the lid is provided to fill the box. Company brand name is "Hoyushokai". There is some loss of paper or stains on all sides. Dates from the 1920's.
