An old doll that is missing its clothed body. It has been replaced with a straw bundle resembling a kokeshi doll's shape. It has loss of hair, chips to the mouth, loss of hair and stains to the gofun finish. Dates from early 20th century.

This garment of recycled fabric, appears to be unfinished, with undone work on the shoulders and missing its sleeves. Sashiko stitching holds the three layers of indigo fabric on the top portion as well as the bottom's three layers (one layer kasuri, 2 layers indigo). A nice piece of old Japan with its "polka dots" effect kasuri.
There are mends and tears.

This chochin, collapsible lantern, is made of cloth with a ferrous metal top and bottom. The lid under the handle lifts open and allows the candle to be attached to the pricket. There are two chains inside which keep the lantern hanging at the right length. Please note the seam which has a 3/4" tear and also please note the stains on the fabric. There is rust on the metal top and base. Dates from the Meiji - Taisho era.

Offered for sale is this set of shell and slate stones with lacquered wood bowls/lids. The bowls lacquer is wearing with some pitting to its surface. The lacquer of one lid's underside has bubbled & cracked and there is a chip in the other lid's rim - please view photos. There are 181 black and 180 white stones. Dates from early 20th century.

The aroma of shaved dried fish lingers on the box and plane used to produce "kezuri bushiki". The iron blade of the plane has the trademark "Shigemichi". The box probably had another purpose before being repurposed into a fish shaver receptacle as the drawer front is inoperable. There is a break in the lid's top and there are nicks, abrasions and loss of patina to the box from its years of usage. Dates from early 20th century.

Offered for sale is this small tetsubin with high relief of bridge and temples. It has some rust around the bridge area and the interior. The tea pot was filled with water for 24 hours and it did not leak. Dates turn of the century.

"Various Account Books" is written on the storage box's front lift out door . There is one drawer and the shelves hold two accounting books which have entries beginning Meiji 31 (1899) to the beginning of the Showa period. One side of the box's foot shows loss of wood from old bug activity. The smaller of the books has minimal bug damage. There are nicks, loss of wood and discoloration to the finish.
