This is a beautiful bronze temple ornament. It has eight bells hanging around the eaves. The finial is comprised of two fish holding a disc in their mouths. The rust on the top would have washed onto the lantern from the chain used to hang it. The bells are substantial and have a pleasant sound in the breeze. Dimensions: Height: 15" Width at eaves: ~12" Width at base: 7" Please add $28.00 for insured Parcel Post shipping in the continental U.S. Other locations may inquire for shipping quote

This substantial bronze vase depicts a pair of dragons facing each other. Their images join to produce the image of another figure with the dragons' heads forming its eyes. The ring handles on the sides are anchored by winged creatures so mythical motifs abound on this piece. The stand is lacquered with shell inlay along the front edge. There's slight wear on the patination on the sides of the vase. The maker's mark is on the bottom. Dimensions: Height: 10-1/4" Diameters, Rim, Widest, Foot: 4-1/2", 11", 5-7/8" Weight (vase only, unpacked): 10 lbs. 12 oz. Please add $25.75 for insured Parcel Post shipping in the continental U.S. Other locations may inquire for shipping quote.

A plump pigeon perches on a branch, under leaves that also shape a mountain. It's a signed piece and we're told that Nanjun is the artist's name. The patina has only minor irregularities and there are no dents--it's a heavy and a sound piece with most pleasing proportions. Dimensions: Height: 9-1/2" Diameters at rim, widest & foot: 3", 6-1/2" & 3-3/8"
Weight, unboxed: 4lbs 14 oz

This pretty iron lantern has a wide pagoda roof and filigree sides. The kiri mon is seen on all four sides, and each side has a pair of birds under the eaves of the lantern. The door opens and closes but doesn't fit well. There's light rusting but no large flakes; rather it's shedding fine particles and would benefit from a wax sealer. Dates from Showa period or earlier. Dimensions: Height: 11-1/2" Width: Roof: 10-1/2" sq. Width: Base: 7-1/2" sq. Please add $25.00 for insured Parcel Post shipping in the continental U.S. Other locations may inquire for shipping quote.

This hefty suiban weighs over 18 pounds. It has fabulous shishi handles. A pattern of shields is repeated around the sides. Within each shield is a suggestion of a dragon or oni face; above the shields is a row of studs in concentric circles. It sits on four flared feet and has a commanding presence. There's one place (visible in the photos) that looks like an old patina repair. There's a gouge on the inside of the basin, and the rough spot on the outside corresponds to the same location. Dates from the Taisho or Meiji period. Dimensions: Overall height: 6" Overall length: 22" Width: 12-3/8" Basin length: 18" Basin depth: 4-1/2" Please add $32.50 for insured Parcel Post shipping in the continental U.S. Other locations may inquire for shipping quote.
