Many scraps of recycled fabrics were used in the construction of this 3 panel futon cover. Cotton fabrics of stripes, kasuri and indigo have mends, tatters and patches. The brown cotton stripe fabric in the middle panel is thin from usage and has a split. Please see last photo.

Offered for sale is this vintage "half under kimono" or Han Juban made of cotton flannel (body) and sleeves of silk with a light weight wool lining. There is a 1/16 inch hole in the silk sleeve and the faded saffron colored wool lining has numerous holes and mends (boro) in both sleeve linings. The collar is fraying. Please see photos for condition.

This four panel sakiori rug is made from shredded recycled kimonos and other well worn textiles. It is lined with used pieced cotton stripe fabric and with its sashiko stitching has good eye appeal. The woven rug folds over on one side end and becomes part of the back side. It is in very good condition with one cut along a backside edge. Please see photo. Dates from the early to mid Showa period.

An orange drawstring, a six sided bottom with a collage of Sho-Chiku-Bai (pine, plum & bamboo) & petals sewn onto a stiff asa kasuri textile all come together to create this charming and quite colorful bag. There is wear, namely each petal has snapped strings & stains as well as tears in the silk fabric used in the collage. A very presentable bag for its age (pre mid-century or)and wear.

This silk and cotton han juban (half under kimono) is strikingly beautiful with its vibrant butterfly collar, katazome bamboo bodice and traditional fans/flower patterns in the sleeves. The sleeves and collar are made of silk with the sleeves lined in cotton. The body of the piece is made of fine cotton with paste-resist stenciling. There is some faint discoloration on the front panels as well as some staining on the lining. There are 3 spots on front side, stains on the collar and a slit in the collar fabric. Dates first half 20th century.
