These pants are layered and sashiko stitched throughout. They're made of a striped cotton, or shima fabric and constructed with a massive gusset in the center. There's a patch on the gusset. These pants are carefully made with binding on the side vents and at the bottom of the tapered legs. They're in very sound condition.

This extraordinary yogi appears to be unused. It has a beautiful silk cover with a brightly dyed floral pattern and a soft dark blue silk lining. The batting is cotton. There's a lightweight silk cover over the shoulders and upper back. The collar and lapels are velvet. Its beauty, quality and condition are all outstanding. There are no tears or fraying. The dye irregularities testify to its hand-crafted history. Probably late Taisho to early Showa.

A woven bamboo base provides the foundation for this handbag. The sides are painted silk with cranes. It's got a pink silk lining and the basket portion is lined with a taupe silk fabric. The base is finely woven with braided feet at the corners. The bag is in good condition but there are a couple of moth holes on the inside and the basket shows some wear and has some separation--see photos.

This noragi, or farmer’s coat is distinguished by the meticulous sashiko stitching which adds durability to the substantial garment. This cotton shima, a pinstripe, is both hardy and supple. Recycled and patched, indigo remnants are sewn together to create the lining. A printed cotton with an interlocking pattern lines the sleeves. The special appeal of this garment lies in the straight, evenly-spaced rows of sashiko stitches.
Dates from Showa period, ca. mid-century and is very sound.

Butterflies with inner wing flowers adorn this han juban, or half under garment. Flannel lines the cuff area and reinforces the underarm opening. It is also used as an insert between the body of the garment and the light grey plaid streamlined sleeves. Each sleeve has a boro patch and there’s a worn-through boro patch is at the collar line. The flannel cuff lining is frayed and please note wear areas in the sleeves.
Dates from early Showa or before.

A wrap around, or sarong style “half under” garment was worn under the kimono. The striped fabric (shima) is silk as well as the lining fabrics. The waist band, a fine silk print, is extended and on both tie ends where a contrasting figured silk print has been added. Other than a tear at the hemline, it is in good condition, and is handsewn. Dates from early Showa period.
