Offered for sale is this lacquered tea storage chest and 10 ceramic teacups. There are lacquer stress cracks in the inside of the lid and bottom of the chest. The underside of the chest also has a stress crack and loss of black lacquer - Please see photos.

This bronze vase appears as if it were shaped or carved with a chisel. It's texture and shape gives it a 20th century level of sophistication. Dates from mid to late Showa period. There is oxidation, some casting debris in the crevices and loss of patina on the lip of the vase. Weighs unpacked 8 pounds 6 ounces.

This round ceramic oribe tile used in the tea ceremony is meant to hold the chagama brazier or hibachi. The off white surface has a raked effect and has random flowing drips from its crown of green overglaze copper oxide. Dates latter part of the 20th century. Weighs unpacked 3 pounds 14 ounces.

A pre WWII trunk which has been converted to a toy chest. The top lid has been decorated with paper from a children's story book/magazine. The iron banding and hardward have rust and pitting. The trunk body is probably board with coated top paper/fabric and there are nicks and dents to it from its years of multiuses. The trunk's interior has some stains. This garment of recycled fabric, appears to be unfinished, with undone work on the shoulders and missing its sleeves. Sashiko stitching holds the three layers of indigo fabric on the top portion as well as the bottom's three layers (one layer kasuri, 2 layers indigo). A nice piece of old Japan with its "polka dots" effect kasuri.
There are mends and tears.

A kanzashi set with hair comb and hairpin stick. Both pieces have applied shell and coral and branches of applied lacquer. The set dates from the early to mid Showa period and is made of a bakelite or synthetic substance. A presentation box (not original to the set) comes with the comb and hairpin.

Daikoku's magic mallet is the playground for two rats, one sitting atop the mallet and the second rat seated on its hind legs. The rat atop the mallet is affixed and the second rat is detached. The bronze artist Kome Jiichi was born in Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture and lived from 1896 - 1985. Weighs unpacked 8 pounds 2 ounces.
