An exceptional Lambayeque (Sican) orangeware bottle from Peru, ca. 700 1350 AD. This gorgeous example is 7-3/4 high and features a spout decorated with a pair of mythical creatures, most likely representing the Moon Dragon. The chamber is lavishly decorated with intricate designs associated with fertility and water worship characteristic of this type. In perfect condition, highly burnished, nice mineral deposits.

A lovely Colima dog from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC 300 AD. She is 13-3/4 long, 9 high and is portrayed in an alert position, standing on all four legs. The head is nicely sculpted, with incised teeth bared in the open mouth. The rich red slip is covered with dendrites, creating the appealing visual texture that makes these effigies among the most collectible Pre-Columbian sculptures. Overall in excellent condition, with just a minor repair.

A rare early Moche figure from Peru, ca. 50 BC 100 AD. This choice Moche I effigy is 6-1/2 high and depicts a seated individual wrapped in a striped mantle, with matching headdress. The face is expressive, with high cheek bones creating a sunken eye look and a wad of coca tucked into his right cheek. He has a bulging coca bag slung over his left shoulder and his hands are nicely detailed. In excellent condition, with strong paint and good dendrites.

This complex example is 6-1/2 high, has a 4 wide blade and is topped with a shaman flanked by a pair of birds, most likely representing spirit messengers. He is wearing a tumi-form headdress and has an owl behind him. Both sides of the flared shaft are covered with designs. Rare type, with strong mineral deposits.

An excellent Moche IV avian effigy vessel from Peru, ca. 450 550 AD. This choice example is 6-1/2 high and depicts a finely detailed vulture. The wings and facial details are molded in high relief and set off with white pigment. The talons are nicely rendered and he is wearing a necklace with pectoral, most likely indicating that this represents a messenger from the Spirit World, as vultures are typically connected to death and the Afterlife.
