| Here is a smashing and shimmering Hobe brooch dating to the 1940’s. As with most Hobe pieces of this style, the unfoiled, multi faceted red, pink and clear open backed and bezel set crystals reflect the light and dazzle the eye. All stones are surrounded by decorative filigree designs of gilt wire. It measures 2 ¼” long and 2” wide at its highest point. It is signed Hobe and in excellent condition with no apparent signs of age or use. All stones are original and have no chips. There is a small flea bit and scratch on one of the 30 or so facets on the side of the center red stone. It is really insignificant but being mentioned to be accurate. This exceptional piece is quite impressive in design and sparkle and a distinctive example of a prominent and important costume jewelry designer. | |||||||||
