A flaw at the bottom from when it was blown. Otherwise in very good condition. No cracks. H. 5" or 12.8 cm.

This is a wonderful and large Chinese bamboo carving of a mountain scene as so often painted by Chinese artists. In here you can see an official riding a donkey with his helper carrying bow and sword walking beside him descending from a village or maybe a teahouse high up in the mountains. Because of some wear at just one place namely at the figures and donkey I think this piece was used as an Calligraphers armwresth. The amount of work that has gone into carving this object I find tremendous ...click for details

This is a wonderful Japanese chawan or teabowl, made by or 'in the manner of' the Japanese potter Shoji Hamada. Hamada didn't sign his work after 1924 and Since I'm not an expert of his work describing this chawan is nothing more than an educated guess. I found a similar chawan in a Millers'price guide from the year 2004 page 501 for comparison.(see picture 6)It has the same height 8.5 cm and is made in the same technic known as the "wax resist" method.
