This is a wonderful and large Chinese bamboo carving of a mountain scene as so often painted by Chinese artists. In here you can see an official riding a donkey with his helper carrying bow and sword walking beside him descending from a village or maybe a teahouse high up in the mountains. Because of some wear at just one place namely at the figures and donkey I think this piece was used as an Calligraphers armwresth. Chinese red copper, brass and white metal brushpot of the finest quallity. Detachable with bayonet catch. The outer pot is finely pierced with great attention to detail. The contrast with the red copper and brass inner pot is amazing. Excellent workmanship makes this pot still look like new, only the reddishbrown patin on the inside gives away its' age, which I believe is 19th century. H. 4"6 or 12 cm. diam. 2"9 or 7.5 cm
