Circa 1930's, this glass pitcher was used for water & advertises a mark of absinthe called L'Oxygenee. They were one of several companies that continued to make anise-based drinks even after France made absinthe illegal in 1886. Upon ordering absinthe, the customer would be given a glass with a special slotted spoon, a sugar cube & a pitcher of water.
