| Fantastic brown transferware Staffordshire platter in the Royal Cottage pattern by Cork, Edge & Malkin, c. 1860-1871. Platter measures 13.25" x 11", has a lovely scalloped edge, excellent transfer work. Scene has been reproduced in the Tonquin pattern in the 20th century. Scene features a cottage by a river, bridge over a waterfall, swans and florals. In a deep chocolate brown on a crisp white background. Platter is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or discoloration. Does have overall fine crazing commensurate with age. Printed mark to back indicates pattern and maker. | |
