Moche Water Dipper (Canchero) with Effigy Handle
A Moche Canchero, Ca. 400 - 700 A.D.

This excellent canchero (a water dipper used for water rites) has a finely formed head on the handle that depicts a Noble that has a nosepiece and a headdress with a stepped design with a tumi in the center. The body of the piece has some Wari (Huari) influence, with the flying eye design depicted. An excellent example. 12" long by 6-1/2" wide.
