This is a lovely operculum shell brooch done in a simple fish motif. It measures almost tow inches in length and 3/4 inch in width at the widest point. It is set with a very nice operculum shell with excellent, deep color and a nice sheen. The wirework is intact and is design very whimsically. The fish even has a little open mouth. This is a nice antique Chinese silver filigree, mesh and wirework brooch. It is unmarked but tests for silver. It was made circa 1900. It is oval in shape and the center piece is a large 22mm long foil-backed opaline glass cabochon stone. It is surrounded with the most beautiful and intricate silver work making the total length of the brooch 2 1/16 inches in length and 1 7/16 mm in width. The back has the original wire c-clasp in good working order. In excellent condition.
