An attractive carved green-brown veined serpentine kohl jar with disc rim and a broad shoulder tapering to a flat foot. The lid is carved from a similar coloured hard-stone.
Egypt, Middle Kingdom, Dynasty XI-XIV, c. 2040-1640 BC
A small chip on the foot and one side of the rim has been restored crudely using stone from another vessel; the lid is repaired from two pieces.
