| A pale brown calcite cowroid seal engraved on the base with a poorly-carved hieroglyphic inscription. Egypt, New Kingdom, late 2nd Millennium BC Intact Size: 2 x 1.2 cms Ex. Collection: Gustave Mustaki, Alexandria, Egypt; acquired mid 20th Century and exported under license of the Egyptian government. Items from the Mustaki collection are now owned by several major museums including no less than 88 objects in the British Museum. This item has been identified by Carol Andrews, former assistant keeper and senior research assistant for over 28 years at the British Museum. | ||
