This is a Satsuma vase from the early 20th century (late Meiji era in Japan). It shows two reserves - one with men women and children in traditional Japanese clothing on a veranda, the other with a landscape including Mount Fuji. The mark on the underside says "Hozan" in Japanese kanji characters (gold on red). Diameter 5 cm, height 10 cm; perfect state.

This is a Kutani cup from the mid-Meiji period (1880-1900), produced by one of the founding families of Kutani porcelain, Eiraku. This is a fairly large 12-lobed bowl made by the famous Fukagawa studio. It was made during the late Meiji or early Taisho era (between 1900 and 1920). The twelve segments are decorated in seven different (mostly abstract) patterns; three are repeated twice, one is repeated three times.
