Kyoto Satsuma dish from the early Meiji period (probably 1870-90)showing four of the "Shichifukujin", the seven lucky gods of Japanese mythology, as well as two "karako" (Chinese children).

25 x 20 cm (10 x 8"), perfect state.

Satsuma teapot from the late Meiji period (early 20th century). This is a wonderful example of so-called 'dragonware': The spout is the dragon's head; the handle is the tail (including two legs with claws). The finial is a shishi (a mythical oriental lion-dog).
