Small Japanese lacquer tray from the late Meiji period (1900-12).
It shows the deity Fukurokuju, one of the seven lucky gods ("shichifukujin") of Japanese mythology. He has a staff in one hand and a bearded turtle ("minogame") sitting on his shoulder. A second one is sitting in front of him. There is no mark. Dimensions 21 x 21 cm; perfect condition. |
