Satsuma dish from the mid-Meiji period (1880-1900) showing two flying birds against a floral background.
It is marked on the reverse "Dai Nippon Taizan sei" in Japanese kanji characters (overglaze red). Diameter 18 cm (7"), excellent state; a little wear to the gilding. |
