This is a "chawanmushi", a lidded cup, produced by the XII. Kakiemon Sakaida during the 1920s or 30s. It shows floral decoration as well as a phoenix; both motifs and the colour palette are typical for Kakiemon items.
Signed "Kakiemon" in underglaze blue. Diameter 10.5 cm (4"), height 8.5 cm (3.5"), perfect state. |
